Country walks and wildlife

East Lothian offers a great variety of landscapes for walking, cycling and horse riding, from the coastline of sandy beaches and rugged cliffs to the Lammermuir Hills and woods and rivers in between.

The John Muir Way provides a continuous path linking East Lothian with the City of Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders and takes in some fantastic views along the way.

Much of the coast is a wetland habitat for wildfowl and waders and has been designated as part of the Firth of Forth Site of Special Scientific Interest, Special Protection Area and Ramsar Site.

East Lothian has a wide variety of attractions including the award-winning five star Scottish Seabird Centre, Musselburgh Racecourse, Glenkinchie Distillery, Tantallon Castle, Museum of Flight, Brunton Theatre and much more.

 




North Berwick High Street

Shopping

In nearby North Berwick you can find an attractive and well preserved High Street with independent retailers offering ladies fashion, homeware, gifts as well as cafes, delicatessens and restaurants.

The Royal Burgh market town of Haddington also has a range of shops and cafes and hosts a farmers market on the last Saturday of every month from 9am – 1pm.
